Take a horticultural photography tour around the world without leaving Baltimore. Our destination will be the Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens. Built in 1888 the Conservatory is the second oldest steel frame and glass building still in use in the US. This unique location in the heart of the Druid Hill neighborhood, and next to the Maryland Zoo, displays flora from China to Africa as well as from rainforests to deserts. The Conservatory has several distinct areas that are climate controlled for the specific area’s plants it houses. There are four Houses: Mediterranean, Tropical, Desert, a Palm House and a separate Orchid Room.
Translation, plenty of space to create pictures and a warm dry place to do it!
Parking
Ample free parking is available on the street around the Conservatory and throughout Druid Hill Park.
Admission
There is no charge for the Meetup but a $5 per person donation to the Conservatory is encouraged. The Conservatory will gladly accept cash, checks, and credit.
