Smartphone Photography - Getting Started at the National Gallery of Art
Learn to use the camera that’s always with you and go beyond taking a simple snapshot to creating a photograph that’s an artistic expression unique to your vision. Join me at the National Gallery of Art and tap into your creative side through mobile photography.
Using our phone cameras, we’ll explore all the Museum has to offer from abstract sculptures, colorful paintings and wall hangings, to the architecture of the building as well. We’ll find endless photographic opportunities perfect for mobile photography.
We’ll start with the basics of learning to use a smartphone camera and review the settings for optimal image capture to pro tips and techniques of exposure, composition and focus that produce the best results.
The number of photography apps available seems endless and can be very confusing when trying to choose what to purchase. I will cover some of the most exciting apps for image capture and processing used by mobile photographers worldwide so you can achieve your artistic vision.
This class is designed for users of iOS and Android mobile devices. The list of apps will be included in your confirmation letter (and include Snapseed, Lightroom CC (mobile) and others) and should run no more than $5.

• Tips and techniques for using phone’s native camera
• Learn exciting capture and editing apps
• Hands-on capture and editing
• Image critique and feedback

Participants will need to bring a fully charged smartphone. A charger is a good idea too as photos quickly drain the batteries.
