Photographic Composition – Essential Techniques

The composition of a photograph is the single most important element a photographer uses to convey an artistic statement. What’s included, excluded and the arrangement of elements within the frame is all part of composition.

This class will teach you techniques to improve the composition of your photos with hands-on shooting experience coupled with feedback.

Founded in 1745, historic downtown Frederick retains its old-world charm with a modern-day way of life. Quaint restaurants and small shops line the historic streets that are filled with activity. As such, urban photography opportunities are everywhere in Frederick. You will photograph the historic urban architecture constructed of brick and stone, and the more modern glass and steel buildings.

The area surrounding the Capitol has many beautiful fountains and exquisitely maintained gardens. Join us as we explore the grounds around the Capitol building, fountains at the Library of Congress and the lovely outdoor gardens of the U. S. Botanical Gardens.

We’ll have expansive views of the harbor, see weathered industrial machinery, and an incredible view of the Domino Sugar factory.
